Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans send Diwali greetings ahead of early release.

Indian audiences will celebrate Diwali with an extraordinary gift from Marvel Studios. Avengers: Doomsday, one of the year’s most anticipated films, will open in Indian cinemas on December 17, 2026, a full day ahead of its U.S. release. The film will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, giving fans across the country the chance to see the spectacle before the rest of the world.

Adding to the excitement, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans shared a heartfelt video message for Indian fans. Downey Jr., returning to the Marvel universe as Doctor Doom, and Evans, reprising his role as Steve Rogers, sent festive wishes and drew a symbolic link between Diwali and the film’s storyline. “Namaste India! What we love about Diwali is that it marks the end of one chapter and the start of another… Happy Diwali, and we will see you in Avengers: Doomsday,” they said, hinting at the darker themes awaiting audiences.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the masterminds behind Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, the film promises to unite heroes from three distinct universes to face a threat unlike any they have encountered before. Produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Jonathan Schwartz, Doomsday boasts one of Marvel’s largest ensemble casts. Alongside Downey Jr. and Evans, the cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Hayley Atwell, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, and many more.

The early Indian release underscores Marvel’s growing recognition of the country’s massive fan base. With premium formats such as Marvel Studios’ Infinity Vision enhancing the cinematic experience, the film is expected to draw record-breaking crowds. For fans, the timing could not be more perfect- Diwali celebrations will now coincide with the arrival of a new chapter in the Marvel saga.

As anticipation builds, Avengers: Doomsday is poised to be more than just another superhero film. It marks a cultural moment when Hollywood’s biggest franchise acknowledges Indian audiences’ enthusiasm by putting them at the forefront of its global rollout. With festive lights illuminating the streets and superheroes preparing for battle, December 17 promises to be a day of celebration, spectacle, and cinematic history.
