A day after three days of ‘rail roko’ protesting the passage of three controversial farm bills in the Rajya Sabha began by farmers’ organisations in Punjab and Haryana,
farmers organisations across the country will take to the streets on Friday, pressing for their demands for legitimate minimum support price guarantees (MSP).
A total of 31 farmers’ groups have extended their support to a call for the assistance of Bharat Bandh today.
A nationwide bandh has been declared by the India Farmers Union (AIFU), All India Kisan Mahasangh (AIKM), Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), and All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC). Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra farmers’ bodies have also appealed for a shutdown.

They have also extended their support to ten central trade unions, including the National Trade Union Congress, All India Trade Union.

Which political parties are the Bharat Bandh supporters of?
On Thursday, Congress extended support for the Bharat Bandh call. The President was urged by a total of 18 parties, including AAP, Congress, the Left Parties, DMK, SP, NCP, Trinamool Congress, RJD, not to sign the bills.
Amarinder Singh, Punjab Chief Minister, urged farmers to maintain law and order and comply with the security protocols of Covid-19. The CM has said that no FIR would be reported for the violation of article 144 during the demonstration.
Train facilities which will be affected
From 24 to September 26 September 26, 14 special passenger trains operating from the Ferozepur railway division were cancelled in view of the three-day rail roko protest by the farmers’ outfits.
Golden Temple Mail (Amritsar-Mumbai Central), New Delhi-Jammu Tawi, Sachkhand Express (Nanded-Amritsar), Jan Shatabdi Express (Haridwar-Amritsar), and Shaheed Express (Amritsar-Jaynagar) are the trains which were suspended.

Three-hour chakka jam in Punjab
In all constituencies, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will hold a three-hour chakka jam (road blockade) across Punjab from 11 am to 2 pm.
