FOOTBALL: Training of Bundesliga Clubs continues despite three positive Corona Virus cases at FC KOLN.

After recently resuming training, Bundesliga clubs dealt a blow as 3 positive COVID-19 cases have been reported at FC KOLN. Clubs await the decision to resume the league campaign.

German Top Flight team FC KOLN said on Friday that despite the 3 positive Coronavirus cases, group training will continue. The club stated that the infected patients didn’t show any symptoms of the virus; the entire coaching staff and players had been tested on Thursday.

“After an assessment of the cases by the responsible health authorities, the three people who tested positive will go into 14-day quarantine at home.” said the club statement.

The club also expressed not to reveal the names of the people infected out of respect for the privacy of the individuals. The Club Managing director Horst Heldt said, “The health and private sphere of players and staff have priority above all else, the previous measures, as well as the strategy of regular tests, have proven themselves so that we can now react with individual solutions.”

Amid the Coronavirus pandemic, the government of Germany delayed the decision to resume or cancel the league by a week.

The Bundesliga clubs will continue to train in small groups but will have to wait for the decision to resume the 2019-20 season in the hope that the government will end the two-month suspension of the league.

Chancellor Angela Merkel has stated that any decision regarding resuming or suspension of sports to be taken on 6th of May.

Bundesliga has pleaded the government to resume the season as many clubs will face a financial turmoil with loss of large revenues from TV deals. They’ve agreed to play behind closed doors with enhanced medical treatment and testing of those involved.

Germany has suffered over 6700 deaths from Corona Virus with more than 164000 people affected.
