India vs England: Inconsistent India suffers its second defeat in the ICC Women’s World Cup, falling to England by four wickets.

A poor batting performance cost India dearly, but England earned a new lifeline in the ICC Women’s World Cup with a 4-wicket victory on Wednesday. It was a must-win game for the guarding champions, who had lost their previous three games. As a result, they jumped from seventh to sixth place. After 2 wins and two losses in four matches, India is now in third place. 

All India could muster was 134 in 36.2 overs, with Smriti Mandhana leading a 35-run knock. Richa Ghosh, the wicketkeeper batter, made 33 runs after India field first.

Women’s World Cup: Charlie Dean, Heather Knight lead England to four-wicket win over India.

Charlie Dean (4/23) was England’s standout bowler, while Anya Shrubsole (2/20) also contributed two wickets.

England, the four-time champions, stumbled a little before finishing in 31.2 overs, with skipper Heather Knight leading from the facade with an unbeaten 53-run knock.  

Meghna Singh (3/26) took three England batters for scalps.
