Police confirm that the gunmen came to the stock
exchange in a car and the four assailants were executed.
On Monday, in the city of Karachi, four gunmen attacked the Pakistani
stock exchange building.
The police informed the media that all four assailants were killed. As per
media reports, the gunmen attacked the building with grenades and guns. This
has exposed a massive lack of security around the building as the building is
classified as a high-security zone, which also includes the head offices of
many private banks.
Two killed & several
injured in the attack on PSX:
Karachi police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon gave a statement to Reuters which said,” Four attackers have been killed; they had come in a silver Corolla car.” The Dawn reported that the gunmen stepped out of the car and lobbed grenades before entering the Pakistan stock exchange (PSX) premises. The stock exchange’s Twitter account has since tweeted the following,” The situation is still unfolding and management, with the help of security forces, is managing the security and controlling the situation.”
The managing director of the PSX, Farrukh Khan, labeled the attack as “serious and
unfortunate”, and claimed that none of the four attackers set foot in the
trading hall of the building. As per Dawn’s report, at least two civilians were
killed and several others were injured in the attack. The heavily armed forces
have cordoned off the premises and which is located in the heart of the
country’s financial capital. It is not clear if there are more gunmen still at
large around the area, and no terrorist organization has yet claimed to be
behind the attack.
