Thunderstorms likely in Delhi, Gujarat; Monsoon to intensify says IMD in a weather forecast.

Due to the low-pressure area over the east-central Bay of Bengal, heavy rainfall is expected over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Odisha; it is likely to move west-northwards.

Heavy Rainfall in India, predicts IMD:

India saw the onset of monsoon in the last 10 days and as the conditions become extremely favourable for a further advancement in Southwest monsoons, heavy rainfall is predicted in many states of India.

Thunderstorms to continue in Delhi, Gujarat:

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that thunderstorms and rains will persist in Delhi over the next three days. The national capital saw heavy downpour after a spell of hot & humid weather. Lightning and thunderstorms are predicted to occur in isolated parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Gujarat along with northeastern part of India.

Monsoon to intensify soon:

As per the IMD’s daily bulletin, due to the low pressure created over the east-central Bay of Bengal, it is all set to move west-northwards; becoming well marked over the next 48 hours, heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is predicted. Under the influence of this low-pressure area, heavy rains are expected to lash over OdishaTelangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh today. IMD says parts of Central India will witness rainfall between 11 and 13 June.

This will also enhance the rainfall in western and southern parts of India, advancing the Southwest monsoons. Heavy downpour is predicted in isolated pockets of Goa, coastal Karnataka, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Kerala, Telangana, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and Gujarat.

West Bengal, Assam and other eastern states will also receive ample rainfall, IMD predicted. IMD has also advised the fishermen to stay off the sea in Goa and Konkan areas, coastal Odisha and central & adjoining Bay of Bengal, as wind speeds are expected to steadily rise in West Central Arabian sea as well.
