Over 3,700 kg of explosives has been load into the Noida Twin Towers. When activated, these will crash the pillars, causing the towers to fall straight down.

A massive explosion is set to demolish the Supertech Noida Twin Towers at 2.30 pm today. The area has been evacuate, and precautions have been take to ensure that the explosion does not affect neighboring structures.

Over 3,700 kg of explosives has been load into the two towers. Nearly 7,000 holes in the pillars have been fill with explosives. 20,000 circuits have been establish. When activated, these crash the pillars so that the towers fall straight down – known as the “waterfall technique.”

According to the project engineer, the collapse will last nine seconds.

The dust will settle in about 12 minutes, depending on the wind speed. About 55,000 tonnes of debris will be generate, also cleanup could take up to three months. The trash will be dispose of in designated areas.

The explosion is expect to cause vibrations in a 30-meter radius for a few seconds. Due to officials, the magnitude of these vibrations could be around 30 mm per second, comparable to a 0.4 Richter scale earthquake. According to officials, the structures in Noida are designe to withstand earthquakes of up to 6.

Approximately 7,000 residents in the area have been ask to vacate ahead of the demolition. Almost 2,500 vehicles have been park outside the perimeter. Following approval, gas and power will be restore in the adjacent buildings by 4 pm, and residents will be authorize to return by 5.30 pm.

According to officials, officials will halt traffic on the Greater Noida Expressway within the 450-meter no-go zone for 30 minutes – 15 minutes on either side of the blast, from 2.15 pm to 2.45 pm, according to officials. Roads leading to the twin towers in Sector 93A would be divert.

Some adjacent buildings are as close to the twin towers as 8 meters. Others are within a 12-meter radius. They have been cover with a special cloth to prevent dust from entering.

The demolition will be carry out under a 100-crore insurance policy. This should cover any damage to neighboring buildings. Supertech must bear the premium and other costs.
