Anand Mahindra slams the Chandrayaan-3 criticizers

On Saturday, a day after the launch of Chandrayaan-3, businessman Anand Mahindra addressed critics who raised issues about the need for space programmes and the related spending, particularly any fingers pointed at India’s moon mission. 

Mahindra backed ambitious space programmes, saying that “reaching for the stars fills us with pride in our advancing technology.”

Anand Mahindra slams in his Tweets:

“There will be many who will question why we’re spending money on Chandrayaan-3 and, indeed, on the entire space programme,” he wrote on Twitter. Here is the solution. 

When we reach for the stars, we gain pride in our technology and self-confidence as a nation. It literally inspires each of us to shoot for the heavens.”

Along with his tweet, the Mahindra group chairman uploaded a video of a large throng assembled at a special gallery near the space centre in Andhra Pradesh to witness Chandrayaan-3’s launch. 

The gallery was established by the Indian Space Research Organisation close to the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC).

While Mahindra’s remarks were not directed at any specific person, they opposed a common rhetoric that criticises ambitious space programmes, arguing that we should instead focus on tackling current problems on Earth.
