Cockroach Janata Party Surpasses BJP on Instagram in Just Four Days

What started as internet satire inspired by a Supreme Court remark has rapidly evolved into one of India’s most talked-about political phenomena. The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), a parody outfit founded by 30-year-old political communication strategist Abhijeet Dipke, has amassed 12 million Instagram followers in just four days — overtaking the Bharatiya Janata Party’s 8.7 million on the platform.

The party draws its name from Chief Justice Surya Kant’s remark, which sparked widespread online outrage and gave birth to the satirical movement. Dipke, currently in the United States after completing a degree in Public Relations from Boston University, told The Red Mike in an interview, “Finally, we have come to know of our identity in this country — that we are seen like cockroaches.”

Opposition Leaders Rally Behind the Parody Outfit

Despite its satirical origins, the CJP has attracted endorsements from prominent opposition politicians including Mahua Moitra, Kirti Azad, and Akhilesh Yadav. Several comedians, celebrities, and social media influencers have also thrown their weight behind the movement, lending it an unexpected degree of mainstream visibility.

Founder Fears Arrest, X Account Already Withheld in India

The backlash from authorities appears to already be underway. The CJP’s X (formerly Twitter) account has been withheld in India, a development Dipke confirmed by sharing a screenshot online. He also expressed serious concern about his personal safety, stating, “I feel that as soon as I land at Delhi airport, a convoy of Delhi Police will take me to Tihar Jail.”

Dipke clarified that despite the staggering follower count, the viral growth brings him little comfort. “I am not happy that we have more followers. What will happen with it? The issues remain the same,” he said, underscoring that the movement’s core intent remains political commentary, not celebration.
