Gujarat BJP MLA Ketan Inamdar “resigns” amidst party dynamics

Savli MLA Ketan Inamdar declared on Tuesday that, in contrast to January 2020, he has no intention of withdrawing his resignation this time.

In a surprising turn of events, Gujarat BJP MLA Ketan Inamdar announced his “resignation” in an email sent to Gujarat Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary early on Tuesday morning.

Following this development, senior BJP leaders hurried to his residence to meet him before his anticipated visit to Gandhinagar, where he is expected to meet state BJP chief C R Paatil. Inamdar, however, expressed his firm stance, stating that unlike in January 2020, he is not inclined to withdraw his resignation this time.

A Stand for Respect and Recognition

Inamdar, the MLA from Savli, emphasized the importance of respecting and recognizing the contributions of longstanding party workers.

While acknowledging the BJP’s growth and inclusivity, he underscored the significance of honoring the efforts of veteran party members. Expressing discontent with the current scenario, Inamdar reiterated his efforts to raise pertinent issues with the party’s leadership.

Support and Solidarity

Following the public disclosure of Inamdar’s resignation letter, Jamnagar MLA Dharmendrasinh Jadeja and Vadodara district in-charge of BJP, Rajesh Pathak, visited his Savli residence for a meeting.

In a show of solidarity, 14 sarpanches from various villages of Savli taluka presented their resignation letters in support of Inamdar. Subsequently, Inamdar departed for Gandhinagar with Jadeja and Pathak, reiterating his decision to step down as MLA.

No Opposition to Party Candidate

Inamdar clarified that his resignation was not a protest against the nomination of Ranjan Bhatt as the BJP candidate for the Vadodara Lok Sabha seat for the third term.

Emphasizing Bhatt’s stature as a respected party leader, Inamdar stated that his resignation stemmed from broader concerns beyond individual candidatures.

Conclusion

Inamdar’s resignation underscores the complexities within the Gujarat BJP and the significance of addressing the grievances of grassroots party workers.

As the party navigates internal dynamics, Inamdar’s stance highlights the importance of recognizing the contributions of longstanding members and fostering internal cohesion.
