Gujarat Heatwave: 8 Cities Record High Temperatures

As temperatures soared above 40°C in Ahmedabad on Tuesday afternoon, the city was just one among several in Gujarat experiencing a blistering heatwave.

Eight cities in Gujarat garnered national attention as they recorded some of the highest maximum temperatures in the country. Rajkot claimed the top spot, registering a scorching 42.1°C.

Gujarat Heatwave Alert for Saurashtra-Kutch Region:

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning for heatwave conditions in the Saurashtra-Kutch region from April 9 to 12, adding to the discomfort felt by residents.

Other notable temperature readings included Bhuj at 41.4°C, Deesa at 41.6°C, Surendranagar at 41.3°C, and Vallabh Vidyanagar in Anand at 41.1°C. Even major cities like Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Vadodara experienced scorching temperatures above 40°C.

Unseasonably High Temperatures:

IMD officials reported that temperatures were significantly above the normal range by 2 to 4°C, exacerbating the heatwave conditions across the state.

The forecast for Ahmedabad predicts a maximum temperature of 41°C on Wednesday, with a warning for continued high temperatures on Thursday.

Prolonged Heatwave Conditions in Kutch:

Residents of Kutch can expect heatwave conditions to persist for the next three days, as indicated by the five-day weather outlook issued by IMD for Gujarat.
