ON SUNDAY, Odisha TV, a private news channel based in Odisha, launched India’s first AI news anchor known as ‘Lisa’.

According to a press statement, an artificial woman dressed in an Odisha handloom saree would give news in both Odia and English for OTV Network’s television and digital channels.

According to the company’s statement, OTV presents Odia television journalism with its first Artificial Intelligence (AI) news anchor, Lisa.

Lisa, the AI news anchor:

Lisa is skilled in several languages, but for now, she will only present news on the network’s television and internet platforms in Odia and English.

“Efforts are underway in the coming days to make Lisa more proficient in Odia,” according to the announcement. Lisa can be found and followed on all major social media platforms, such as Instagram and Facebook.”

Litisha Mangat Panda, the company’s Digital Business Head, stated that training Lisa in Odia was a major undertaking that we could do.

“However, we are still working on it.” She said that we’re hoping to train her to a stage where she can easily engage with others.

Are news anchors jobs at risk?

Previously, in April, Kuwait News presented ‘Fedha,’ their first artificial intelligence (AI) created newscaster. “Fedha” arose on the Kuwait News website’s Twitter account on Saturday as an image of a woman wearing a black jacket and a white T-shirt with her light-coloured hair uncovered. Kuwaiti News is affiliated with the Kuwait Times, launched in 1961 as the Gulf region’s first English-language daily.
