Ahmedabad: Met dept revises earlier prediction, says thunderstorms will start from Monday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has revised its weather prediction for Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and the surrounding regions.
According to the latest bulletin issued on Thursday, the first showers of the season are now expected by Monday, June 10, instead of Sunday as previously forecasted. Furthermore, rainfall is anticipated to cover the entire state of Gujarat by June 12.
Current Weather Observations
On Thursday, isolated rainfall was reported in parts of South Gujarat. The southwest monsoon has advanced into several regions, including:
- Central Arabian Sea
- Most parts of Karnataka
- Parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, and coastal Andhra Pradesh
- West Bengal
A cyclonic circulation at 3.1 km above mean sea level was observed over South Gujarat and its neighboring areas, which has influenced the weather patterns.

Friday and Saturday:
- Light rain or thundershowers are expected in Dahod, Chhota Udepur, the Dangs, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
Sunday:
- Rainfall is forecasted for southern Saurashtra, including Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir-Somnath, and the Union Territory of Diu.
Monday:
- Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, and the rest of South Gujarat.
- Similar conditions are expected in the Saurashtra districts of Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir-Somnath, and Diu.
Tuesday:
- Rainfall is predicted to spread to upper Saurashtra.
Wednesday:
- The entire state, including the upper reaches of Kutch, is expected to receive rainfall.
Temperature Update
In Ahmedabad, the minimum temperature recorded was 28.7°C, which is 0.6°C above the normal range. For Friday, the maximum temperature is forecasted to remain at 42°C with clear skies expected.
