Kim Jong Un sends nuclear attack warning to USA and South Korea
Kim Jong Un, the North Korean leader, has called for the country to be prepared to launch nuclear attacks at any moment to deter war, blaming the United States and South Korea for widening joint military drills affecting American nuclear assets, according to state media KCNA.
Kim Jong Un, remarks arose as the isolated country conducted exercises on Saturday and Sunday to enhance its tactical nuclear attack abilities and war deterrence to send strong warnings to the allies.
Under the scene of a tactical nuclear attack, a ballistic missile loaded with a mock nuclear warhead flew 800 km (497 miles) before hitting an aim at an altitude of 800 m (0.5 miles), according to KCNA.
The launch of a North Korean short-range ballistic missile off the east coast of South Korea and Japan on Sunday was the latest in a series of missile testing in recent weeks.
North Korea has reacted angrily to joint military exercises between South Korea as well as the United States, calling them a dress rehearsal for an invasion against it. Since earlier this month, the allies have been conducting their annual exercises.
In another dispatch, KCNA reported that more than 1.4 million North Koreans have volunteered to unite or re-enlist in the military to fight Seoul and Washington, an increase from the 800,000 reported just two days before by a state newspaper.
