Massive Fire Engulfs Reliance Mall in Jamnagar, Gujarat

On Thursday night, a massive fire broke out at the Reliance Mall located in Moti Khavdi within the Jamnagar Refinery Township in Gujarat’s Jamnagar district. 

The blaze, which nearly destroyed the mall, was eventually controlled by 4 am Friday, approximately six hours after it was first reported.

Evacuation Efforts and Casualties in Reliance Mall Fire:

At least 50 individuals were evacuated from the premises; fortunately, no casualties have been reported thus far.

Upon receiving the initial report of the fire at 10 pm, approximately 20 fire tenders were dispatched to the scene promptly. 

Regional Fire Officer (Rajkot) Anil Maru stated that an investigation is underway to resolve the cause of the fire, which primarily engulfed the furniture within the mall.

Traffic Disruption and Control Measures:

The incident caused a traffic jam on Jamnagar Highway in Jamkhambhaliya, extending for 1-2 km due to the mall’s proximity to the highway. However, authorities managed to control the situation by 1 am, with the cooling and ventilation process continuing until 4 am.

Reliance Industries’ Response:

A spokesperson from Reliance Industries confirmed the fire, stating that an investigation into its cause would be conducted. They reassured me that no loss of life or injuries had been reported. 

The district authorities, the fire department, and Reliance Industries’ fire tenders collaborated to bring the fire under control.

The Reliance Mall, situated at the township entrance, is the area’s sole shopping complex. It features a two-story structure with amenities such as a movie theatre, game zone, cafes, and various retail outlets, according to police sources.
