The minor Mumbai boy wanted to invest more funds in the stock market to become rich.

Police charged a young Mumbai boy on Saturday after he attempted to rob a jewellery store in the city using a plastic gun. During the investigation, the 16-year-old boy told the police that he committed the offence to make money to invest in the stock market.

The happening occurred at the Shakti Jeweller’s store on 60 Feet Road, Bhayander West, at about 5 pm on Saturday.

According to cops, the minor charged reached the store and told the jeweller that he had a few gold biscuits to sell. The jewellery staff refused to purchase it from him and asked the boy to go. He left the store initially and returned after a few minutes with a plastic pistol.

Staff at the jewellery could not initially recognise that it was a plastic pistol and the boy had robbed the store. Yet, while he was trying to run after the theft, some residents caught him and handed him over to the cops.

According to cops, the charge is an SSC pupil. His dad, who has a tea shop, has a Demat account, and the boy was taking care of it. He used to make good revenue and wanted to invest more funds to become wealthier.

The Bhayander police retrieved the plastic pistol from him, and a case under appropriate sections of the India Penal Code (IPC) has been filed against the minor fellow.

The boy will be sent to a juvenile arrest centre.
