A 48-year-old Australian woman survived abandoned in the bush in Australia for five days by consuming sweets and drinking a bottle of wine.

Lillian Ip began on what was meant to be a brief trip on Sunday, travelling through thick bush in the Victoria region.

Australian woman survives drinking wine in a bush:

But she struck a dead-end after having a wrong turn, and her car became stuck in the mud. Ms Ip – who doesn’t drink – just had a bottle of wine in the vehicle as she planned to give it as a gift.

After five evenings abandoned, she was seen by emergency assistance on Friday as they flew overhead as part of a hunt.

“The first thought coming into my mind, I was thinking ‘water and a cigarette,'” Ms Ip told the Australian Press. “Thank god the police had a cigarette.” “I felt I was going to die there. My entire body locked down on Friday,” she stated, continuing that she “was about to give up”.

As she lost hope of being seen alive, she penned a letter to her family expressing she loved them.

Ms Ip was located about 60km (37 miles) from the closest town, and due to health problems, she could not walk far, so she stayed with her vehicle, Victoria cops said.

She just had several snacks and sweets to consume and no water.

“The only drink Lillian, who doesn’t drink, was with her was a bottle of wine she had purchased as a present for her mom, so that got her through,” Wodonga Police Station Sergeant Martin Torpey stated.

“She used excellent common sense to stay with her vehicle and not walk off into bushland, which helped in police being able to see her.”

Ms Ip was rushed to hospital to be treated for dehydration but has since come back home to Melbourne.
