Nasser Hussain: India Too Strong for Pakistan at Women’s T20 World Cup

Former England captain Nasser Hussain has delivered a blunt verdict ahead of the highly anticipated Group 1 clash between India and Pakistan at Edgbaston, stating that India are simply “too strong” for their arch-rivals at the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. Hussain pointed to India’s remarkable growth in women’s cricket as the key factor separating the two sides.

WPL and World Cup Win Fuel India’s Rise

Hussain credited the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and India’s recent ODI World Cup triumph as the twin engines driving the team’s rapid ascent. The intensely competitive franchise environment has sharpened India’s players at a pace Pakistan has been unable to match, largely because Pakistani players lack regular access to global franchise tournaments. “India have jumped at least a level or two,” Hussain remarked, underlining the growing gulf between the neighbouring cricketing nations.

Pakistan Must Abandon Cautious Approach

Despite his confidence in India, Hussain did identify their bowling combination as a potential pressure point. However, he insisted Pakistan must take full responsibility for their own approach, warning that timid cricket will not yield results against elite opposition. Whether facing India, England, South Africa, New Zealand, or Australia, Pakistan must play well above their usual level. “They have to play fearless cricket and put India under a bit of pressure,” Hussain concluded, urging a bold and aggressive mindset from the outset.

With the stakes high and the contest fiercely anticipated, all eyes will be on whether Pakistan can rise to the challenge or fall short against a dominant Indian side.
