Pakistan Targets 26 Indian Locations in Fresh Drone and Shelling Attacks

Escalating the ongoing military standoff with India, Pakistan launched a fresh wave of drone attacks and unprovoked ceasefire violations across the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC) late Friday night and into Saturday. A total of 26 locations were targeted, ranging from Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir to Bhuj in Gujarat, in a significant show of aggression.

According to defence sources, the Pakistani Army resorted to heavy shelling in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan — marking the second consecutive night of cross-border hostilities. These regions, which lie along the sensitive border zones, have now come under heightened security watch.

In one of the most severe drone offensives in recent years, suspected armed drones were spotted at multiple locations. Many were intercepted and neutralised by India’s air defence systems, but the attacks still triggered damage, panic, and civilian injuries.

Key Locations Targeted

In Punjab’s Amritsar, at least 15 drones were spotted throughout the night. A red alert was issued, and air defence units successfully neutralised most of them before they could strike key assets.

Firozpur in Punjab saw injuries to three civilians when debris from a defused Pakistani drone fell on their house, causing a fire.

Gurdaspur, another border district in Punjab, witnessed a loud explosion as a drone was reportedly intercepted mid-air.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the town of Baramulla was subjected to heavy shelling. Explosions echoed through the region as authorities enforced a complete blackout to minimize civilian casualties and ensure operational discretion.

Heavy artillery exchanges were reported in Kupwara, also in north Kashmir, as Indian troops responded to Pakistani fire.

Pathankot, located near the border in Punjab, came under intense shelling, escalating fears of broader civilian impact in the region.

Samba, another vulnerable district in Jammu and Kashmir, was also shelled by Pakistani forces.

The Uri sector in J&K witnessed the downing of approximately 8 to 10 drones by Indian forces as they aggressively countered the aerial intrusions.

The border districts of Poonch, particularly Shahpur Kerni and Deghwar sub-sectors, saw Pakistani violations of the ceasefire agreement through mortar shelling, according to defence officials.

In Nowgam, located in the Handwara region of north Kashmir, Pakistani drones attempted an incursion before being repelled.

Rajouri district also saw multiple drone sightings, triggering a swift counter-offensive by Indian troops.

Further south, in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer, nine Pakistani drones were shot down overnight, while another was confirmed destroyed in Barmer.

In Pokhran, known for its military testing ranges, several drones were intercepted and neutralised by Indian air defences.

National Response

Security forces remain on high alert across all affected regions, with surveillance drones, radar systems, and missile defence units fully deployed. The Indian Air Force and Army have coordinated joint operations to monitor and respond to continuing threats.

As tensions surge, authorities have urged residents in border districts to remain indoors, avoid unverified social media reports, and follow local advisories strictly.

The Indian government is expected to issue a formal statement following a comprehensive battle damage assessment. For now, the border situation remains tense, with both nations closely watching each other’s moves amid fears of further escalation.
