Shilpa recalled their courtship period in an interview:

He was tossing clues at me constantly. But as I did not want to ruin the friendship and connection we shared, I asked him to give it a full stop. In addition, while I was dying to get married at that time, I was never going to move to London.

But, finally, Shilpa realized because when he told her that he had bought a place in Mumbai, with the intention of transferring a portion of his company to India, Raj meant business.
