Argentina superstar Lionel Messi will duel with RB Leipzig on Wednesday in the Champions League duel with RB Leipzig miss, Paris Saint-Germain announced on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old six-time Golden Ball winner has problems with his left hamstring and a sore knee. Messi had left after PSG’s 2-1 Ligue 1 win against Lille last Friday. But coach Mauricio Pochettino said he hoped he would be ready for the game in Leipzig.

However, he missed training on Monday, and the club confirmed that he was still unfit on Tuesday.

A statement from PSG said the four-time Champions League winner was suffering from “a pain in the left thigh and a painful knee with bruises.”

Messi may also have doubts about the Ligue 1 clash between leaders PSG and Bordeaux on Saturday. He then had to join his national team for two World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil.

Wednesday was Messi’s third game out of season through injury after missing two Ligue 1 games at the end of September. Since Messi arrived from Barcelona in August, Messi has reluctantly started his magic with the French grandmaster. However, in Paris, he put on one of his better performances in the 3-2 win against Leipzig two weeks ago and scored twice, including the penalty winner. Along with Messi, Marco Verratti, Leandro Paredes, and Sergio Ramos are out, but Les Parisiens are otherwise fully fit and may finally rely on Angel Di Maria after serving his suspension for the first three Group A games.

He said he joined PSG after nearly two decades at Barcelona to win a fifth Champions League trophy.

PSG will also be missing influential midfielder Marco Verratti. Who has a hamstring injury but will welcome French world champion Killian Mbape to the team after missing the match against Lille. PSG lead their group in the Champions League after three games with seven points. Last season’s finalists, Manchester City, are a point behind, while Leipzig is yet to score after three defeats.
