Dr. Klaus Bartonietz, the recently crowned Diamond League javelin throw champion, has advised him to rest.

Neeraj Chopra, the gold medalist in the javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics. He will not compete in India’s National Games 2022, which will be held in Gujarat from September 27 to October 10.

Due to a groyne injury, the Indian javelin ace missed the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham last month.

He marked his comeback by winning the Lausanne Diamond League meet also lifting the Diamond League Trophy in Zurich on Thursday.

Neeraj Chopra stated that his body requires time to recover after a strenuous season and that his coach, Dr. Klaus Bartonietz, a biomechanical expert, advised him to rest. “The dates for the National Games were only recently announced. I spoke with the coach, and he said I needed to rest because I had just recovered from a groyne injury.”

This year, Neeraj Chopra competed in six competitions. This season, the 24-year-old Indian broke his national record twice. He became the first Indian to win a silver medal at the World Athletics Championships in July.

However, Neeraj Chopra pulled out of the Commonwealth Games after straining his thigh muscle during the world athletics championships in Oregon.

“If you train also compete, it could become risky,” Neeraj Chopra reasoned. “Because my family and friends are also in Zurich for a week, I won’t be able to train.”

“After that, I’ll return home to begin my rehabilitation programme also prepare for the world championships and Asian Games next year.”

In August of next year, the world athletics championships will be hold in Budapest, Hungary. The Asian Games will be hold in Hangzhou, China, in September.
