Colombia plane crash, MIRACLE four kids are alive in Amazon Jungle

The country’s president said four kids were found alive almost a month after their plane collided in Colombia’s Amazon jungle.

The two, aged 13, nine, four and a one-year-old baby, were on board the aeroplane with their mom, a pilot and a co-pilot when it hit in the Amazon Jungle on 1 May.

Their mom and the other adults on board the aircraft died.

President Gustavo Petro said locating the kids after weeks of searching was “a pleasure for the whole nation”. He called it a “magical day”, continuing: “They were alone; they completed an example of actual survival which will remain in history.

“These kids are today the children of peace and the kids of Colombia.” Mr Petro posted a photo of some army and Indigenous community members tending to the siblings, who had been away for 40 days.

He said the kids were now receiving medical needs – and that he had talked to their grandfather, who told him “the mother jungle returned them”.

The Cessna 206 plane the kids and their mom had been travelling on was flying from Araracuara, in the Amazonas region, to San José del Guaviare, when it gave a mayday warning due to engine failure.

The bodies of the three adults who had been with them were seen at the crash site by the military.

The news agency said that preliminary data from the civil aviation authority indicated the children fled the destruction and wandered into the rainforest to get help.
