COVID-19 cases in India zoom past 9.3 lakh; New 29,429 infections detected.

More than 24,300 patients have died to Coronavirus, as daily cases surged to 29,429.  

On Wednesday, India’s COVID-19 tally zoomed past the 9.3 lakh-mark as a total of new 29,429 cases were reported in the last 24 hours. The country’s coronavirus tally stands at 936,181 and the death toll has reached 24,309 as per the data given by the Union Health Ministry.

India’s recovery rate at 63.24%:

The recovery rate has improved in the country to 63.24 percent as the tally of cured patients reached 592,032. The total number of active COVID -19 cases rose to 319,840 revealed the Ministry of Health Affairs.

Karnataka overtakes Gujarat:

The state of Karnataka overtook Gujarat on Wednesday, to become the third-worst affected COVID-19 state of India. Tamil Nadu is in the second position and Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. 

Third plasma bank at GTB Hospital in Delhi:

Delhi’s state-run Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital will soon have a plasma bank which will be the third facility in the AAP ruled state. The nodal officer of GTB Hospital revealed that competent authority has permitted the hospital to start collecting plasma from the recovered patients. Bhushan said that a list of COVID-19 recovered patients was made and the majority of them have agreed to donate the plasma. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that there was no shortage of beds to treat the infected patients and revealed that around 20-23 thousand tests are being conducted in the national capital daily. The situation in Delhi has somewhat improved as compared to the situation in late June and early July. Kejriwal said the “situation is under control” before warning the residents of complacency.

Globally over 13.3 million cases have been reported with more than 578,000 deaths.
