The dynamic colorist and cinematographer from Mumbai has paved the path for heightened creative success through hard work, zealousness, and passion nationally and internationally.
The more we speak about a few individuals making it to the top of their industries, all on their own, starting everything from the ground up, the more we feel the need to hold discussions around them and their life journeys. These individuals, especially those from the younger brigade, believe in the power of their dreams, put in every possible effort, and create a path of success for them the way they always desired. Janak Panchal is all about this and much more; he has made a name for himself as a passionate colorist, photographer, and cinematographer who is now transitioning into filmmaking.
“From a young age, I was drawn to the world of creativity and art. This early inclination led me to discover my passion for cinematography,” shares Janak, a Mumbai native.
“As a 14-year-old, I saw myself getting driven by the power of the lens – photography, which marked the beginning of a new journey for me as a teenager in visual storytelling. By 17, I knew my path – filmmaking. Thus, I pursued higher education from Whistling Woods International, gaining a Bachelor of Arts in Filmmaking with a specialization in Cinematography, followed by a one-year Conservatory in Cinematography at the New York Film Academy and then completing advanced training in Dolby Vision and DaVinci Resolve for shaping my visual sensibilities to turn into a skilled cinematographer and filmmaker,” he further highlights.
Janak Panchal reflects on his notable projects, saying, “I’ve had the privilege of working on incredible projects, transforming visions into stunning visual realities. For instance, my short film Bageecha was nominated at prestigious festivals. Another project, the short film “Kryptonite,” where I worked as a colorist, received great acclaim and nominations at the Heartland International Film Festival and the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge. These experiences have only deepened my passion for my art.”
He also mentioned how he finds himself lucky to have received great work projects beyond short films, working on YouTube collaborations with Enes Yilmazer on the popular YouTube channels “Enes Yilmazer” and “Enes Plus,” gaining over 800 million views and 4.5 million subscribers and music videos like “Nadaaniyan” with Apporv Arora Films and “Out of Love” by Raja Kumari. The former was featured in Rolling Stone India and the latter in Times Square, New York City.
Janak Panchal (@janakpanchal_), who has already collaborated with celebrities like Branden Williams, Grant Cardone, Rayni Williams, Tommy Hilfiger, and David Dobrik, aims to continue strengthening his craft as a cinematographer and colorist and dive deep into filmmaking.
