KL Rahul Will Lead India in the upcoming one-day international series against South Africa, with white-ball skipper Rohit Sharma ruled out due to injury. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been name the team’s vice-captain for the three-match series.

Chetan Sharma, chief selector of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), announced in a virtual press conference on Friday that Rohit is undergoing rehabilitation to recover from his injury. “We decided against sending him because he can work on his muscles at home. He needs to be fully fit for the World Cup. During a press conference, all of the selectors had a good conversation with Rohit, “Chetan Sharma stated.

Rohit was previously ruled out of the squad for the current Test series against South Africa. In the Tests, KL Rahul has been filling in for him. The 18-man crew includes senior Shikhar Dhawan and Ruturaj Gaekwad, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ishan Kishan. In addition, the squad consists of Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Venkatesh Iyer, who will form India’s firm middle order.

After a long absence, Ravichandran Ashwin has been recall to the One-Day International squad. He’ll be join by leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and offie Washington Sundar. The pace branch will be led by Jasprit Bumrah, who has also been appoint as the team’s vice-captain.
