Early Lok Sabha elections possible says Rohit Pawar

Early Lok Sabha elections possible says Rohit Pawar

Rohit Pawar, Nationalist Congress Party MLA and grandson of party president Sharad Pawar believe Lok Sabha elections could be held as early as December 2023, stating that Maharashtra officials were just directed to begin repairing and producing electronic voting machines (EVMs).

In response to the current political situation in Maharashtra, Rohit Pawar stated, “The checking reports of EVMs are taken five-six months before the Lok Sabha or state elections, and some Maharashtra officials have been instructed to start repairing and manufacturing EVMs four days ago.”

Rohit Pawar says to News Agency:

“This suggests that Lok Sabha elections could be held in December 2023.” This is happening due to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s defeat in the Karnataka election, and it could also happen in Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and other states. “With the upcoming elections in mind, the BJP attempted to split the NCP and Shiv Sena,” an NCP MLA told news agency ANI.

Rohit Pawar’s remarks come as Sharad Pawar’s NCP faction prepares to meet with its MLAs in Mumbai on Wednesday. At the same time, the rival group led by Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar has also convened a separate meeting of party legislators.

The one-line whip issued on Tuesday by Jitendra Awhad, chief whip of the Sharad Pawar-led NCP, stated that Sharad Pawar had summoned a meeting for 1 p.m. on July 5 at the YB Chavan Centre and that all MLAs must attend.

Pawar senior appointed Awhad as chief whip after nephew Ajit Pawar joined the Shiv Sena-BJP government with 8 other MLAs on Sunday.

The Ajit Pawar camp also issued a notice on Tuesday to all current and former legislators, parliamentarians, office-bearers, working committee members, and others, inviting them to a meeting convened by Sunil Tatkare, the Maharashtra unit president selected by the group, at the MET institute’s premises in suburban Bandra on Wednesday.

The notification was issued by Shivajirao Garje, who was expelled from the Sharad Pawar-led party for “engaging in anti-party activities.”

The Ajit Pawar faction has petitioned Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar to remove state NCP president Jayant Patil and MLA Jitendra Awhad from their seats.
