Tomato price in India: Tomato costs continue to make a hole in the pockets of Indian citizens. In certain areas, the vegetable price has surpassed ₹150 per kilogram. 

This comes as the Centre has maintained that the increase in tomato prices is seasonal and that rates will fall in 15 days. 

According to multiple media sources, tomatoes are being sold for ₹160 per kg in Visakhapatnam.

“The price of vegetables has increased.” Tomatoes cost $150 per kilogramme. Customers are having a lot of issues as a result of the price increase. “I request that the government intervene and regulate the vegetable prices,” a client told ANI.

“The price of tomatoes has risen everywhere. Petrol is currently more cheap than tomatoes. “It has become extremely difficult for us to manage our expenses now,” a vegetable buyer told ANI.

According to Consumer Affairs Ministry data, the average all-India retail price was 83.29 per kilogram.

The price in Bengal and TN:

With tomato prices rising in West Bengal, the Mamata Banerjee government has moved quickly to curb them. 

According to PTI, the government has asked its retail network Sufal Bangla to deliver fair-priced veggies in the city.

Sufal Bangla, according to reports, was charging 115 per kg for tomatoes.

The MK Stalin government initiated tomato sales in the city through 82 fair-pricing shops, offering the vegetable for 60 pence per kilogramme. 

TN Minister for Cooperatives KR Periyakaruppan stated that the project would be expanded to other parts of the state if necessary.
