Yash Skips Fee, Picks Rights for Ramayana

Actor Yash appears to be taking an unconventional route with his compensation for Nitesh Tiwari’s much-anticipated two-part epic, Ramayana. As excitement builds around the film’s Diwali release this year, fresh reports indicate that the star has chosen a payment structure quite different from what was originally planned for his role as Ravana.

A Bet on Box Office Success

According to industry portal Sacnilk, Yash has opted out of a conventional acting fee for both installments of Ramayana. Instead, he is said to be taking the South Indian distribution rights for the two films as his compensation. This marks a notable departure from earlier reports in 2025, which had pegged his fee for playing Ravana at approximately Rs 100 crore — a figure that would have made it one of the most expensive roles in Indian cinema history. By trading a guaranteed payout for distribution rights, Yash is essentially wagering that the film’s commercial performance will exceed the value of his original fee, a move that could pay off handsomely if Ramayana becomes a box office success.

Growing Role Behind the Camera

Beyond acting, Yash’s involvement in Ramayana extends to production. His banner, Monster Mind Creations, is co-producing the film alongside Prime Focus Studios, reflecting the actor’s expanding footprint in production ventures. This comes on the heels of his recent release, Toxic, and adds another layer to his growing profile as both performer and producer within the industry.

With Ramayana: Part 1 heading toward its festive-season release, this compensation arrangement has added another talking point to the film’s already high-profile buildup.
