Kedarnath Landslide: 5 dead, 3 from Gujarat

Kedarnath Landslide: A huge landslide occurred in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag area on Thursday night, in which five deaths were reported.

At least five pilgrims, including three from Gujarat, were murdered after their car was crushed by rubble from a landslip in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag area on Thursday night, according to the news agency PTI.

The latest Kedarnath Landslide:

The landslide occurred on the Guptkashi-Gaurikund route near Tarsali, wiping away a 60-meter road. A car carrying worshippers to the holy shrine of Kedarnath was struck by a swarm of stones and boulders descending from the mountain between Phata and Sonprayag.

After reporting the event, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) started a rescue mission. However, the rain impeded their efforts. They claimed five bodies were retrieved from the wreckage of the car on Friday after the weather cleared.

Identities of victims:

According to officials, the deceased has been identified as Jigar R Modi, Mahesh Desai, Parik Divyansh, Mintu Kumar and Manish Kumar from Gujrat, and Mintu Kumar and Manish Kumar from Haridwar.

Bodies have been recovered:

When the rescue operation started on Friday, the bodies and the wrecked Swift Dzire were removed from the landslide debris, according to Nandan Singh Rajwar, a district disaster management official for Rudraprayag.

Meanwhile, state Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a ground examination of the rain-ravaged Kotdwar area, where a man went missing in a landslip two days ago, and multiple bridges were damaged, cutting off a big population from the rest of the state.
