To raise their points tally to 10 points from 13 matches in the 13th season of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings beat Kolkata Knight Riders by six wickets.
As they chased down a target of 173 runs during the last over, it was a clinical effort by the CSK team. After their eighth defeat, CSK altered their plan and began giving new players in the squad more opportunities.
Ruturaj Gaikwad praised by M.S. Dhoni:
Ruturaj Gaikwad, one of the youngsters, amazed everybody with his back-to-back fifties. He played a confident 72-run innings to lead his side to a victory over KKR.
On Thursday, CSK Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni also piled rich praise on Gaikwad, saying “one of the most talented players around” is the young opener.
Dhoni in Post Match Presentation:
“(The changes) are a deliberate attempt. We want to send people who haven’t played sports, and we need them to catch some opportunities. We saw Ruturaj in the nets, but then he got Covid-19 positive, so it took himself 20 days.
We haven’t had much time to look at him. “Unfortunate, but this season he’ll recall,” Dhoni said in the post-match presentation.
He is one of the most talented players around here. What makes it hard is that he isn’t someone who talks a lot! So it becomes impossible for the management to gauge a player often.
Gaekwad, who had tested positive for COVID-19 within the run-up to the tournament, seems to have all the shots and is appealing to the eye with his style of play.
Since struggling in his first three innings (0, 5, 0), things did not look promising for him. When he was heading in the innings, you could see that he was throwing the ball the way he wants to and he was preparing. He got up and stepped down when we made him play the first game.
It’s hard to know whether the strain forced him to step back or whether that’s his natural skill. One ball’s not enough,’ said Dhoni.
Dhoni praised Ravindra Jadeja:
Ravindra Jadeja was also praised by the CSK skipper for his match-winning cameo, which included two sixes over the game in the finals.
“Jadeja has been amazing this season. He was the only batsman in our squad who, in the last few overs, took on the task of scoring.
I feel we wanted someone by his side during the season, “Dhoni continued, not only using his power but through the point where the field is up.”
