No provision for reservation on religion basis says Amit Shah

On Monday, union home minister Amit Shah stated that there is no provision in the Constitution for religious reservation, that the 4% reservation for Muslims was unconstitutional, and that the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Karnataka had removed it.

“There is no provision in our Constitution for religious discrimination.” With much deliberation, I made a reservation within a reservation…Before the end of the Karnataka election campaign, Siddaramaiah must clarify that if Congress increases the reservation for Muslims from 4% to 6%, who will lose their reservation, Shah said to news agency ANI in an interview.

Speaking at a public rally in Hunagunda, Shah stated, “The BJP has reinforced national security by prohibiting the Popular Front of India (PFI), but the Congress party is against… The BJP would neither accept Muslim reservations nor lower Lingayat reservations in the state.”

Shah said of Congress, “Congress makes false promises everywhere and loses elections.” They support the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and the Popular Front of India (PFI), which the people of Karnataka despise and are outraged about.”

Shah expressed confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s win in the upcoming Karnataka elections, claiming that the party will be back in power with a solid majority.

Speaking on the double-engine govt in the poll-bound state, Shah stated, “I have visited all regions of Karnataka, and we can observe eagerness for a double-engine government in the state.” This will be translated into votes for the party.”

The Karnataka assembly’s 224 seats will go to the elections on May 10, and the ballots will be counted on May 13.

The majority needed to create a government is 113 seats. Monday is the penultimate day of campaigning for the election.
