“In light of the Covid situation,
I’ve decided to call a halt to all public rallies in West Bengal. I will urge
all political leaders to carefully consider the implications of holding major
public rallies in the current situation “He sent out a tweet.
He has only conducted two rallies throughout the state till now, and was set to campaign in the districts of Malda and Murshidabad until the sixth phase of elections on April 22.

to poke PM by Tweets:
Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi used
Twitter to poke fun at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who thanked the citizens
of West Bengal for attending his political rallies in large numbers during
Saturday.
PM Modi told a rally in Asansol that
he wanted to file a “complaint” towards the people because he had
visited the city twice before, since the Lok Sabha elections, and had never
witnessed such a large crowd.
As the PM
Narendra Modi stated:
“During the Lok Sabha elections,
I came here twice.” When I ran for Prime Minister and asked for your
favor. I came here the last time to ask for votes for Babulji (Union minister
Babul Supriyo). I came the first time to solicit your votes for myself.
The audience, however, was just a half

“You have demonstrated your strength today, and I can see a flood of people
everywhere I look,” Prime Minister Modi said.
Rahul Gandhi’s

In reply, Rahul Gandhi stated that
there had never been so many sick individuals or so many deaths. “That’s
also the first time that such large crowds of ill people have been seen, as
well as a record number of fatalities,” his tweet read, loosely translated
through Hindi.
West Bengal has
seen an increase in Covid-19 cases:
In recent weeks, West Bengal, like the
rest of the region, has seen an increase in Covid-19 cases. The overall number
of instances in the state increased to 6,51,508 after 7,713 new cases were
reported on Saturday. The virus has claimed the lives of 10,540 people in the
state.
The West Bengal assembly election’s
Phases 6, 7, and 8 will be held on April 22, 26, and 29, respectively. On May
2, the votes will be counted.
