In a recent interview, the debutant director revealed which international star he would love to see his father collaborate with, and the answer came without a moment’s hesitation.

The Hollywood Dream

Speaking to Behindwoods TV, Jason Sanjay was presented with a hypothetical situation: what if Hollywood action star Jason Statham watched his upcoming film and wanted to work with an Indian actor? Asked to pick a Tamil star for the pairing, Jason named his own father as his first choice, predicting the on-screen partnership would work brilliantly. He added, half-jokingly, that the idea would likely set off a flood of memes and online chatter once fans caught wind of it.

From Film Sets to the Director’s Chair

Jason Sanjay’s love for cinema took root early, shaped by years spent around film sets as a child. He went on to formally study filmmaking in Canada, later gaining practical exposure through stints at advertising agencies. He also volunteered at the Toronto International Film Festival, an experience he credits with widening his understanding of global cinema before stepping behind the camera himself.

His directorial debut, Sigma, stars Sundeep Kishan in the lead role. The film had originally been scheduled for a July 31 release, but that date has since been pushed back, with a new release window yet to be announced.
