Scorching summer: heatwave in Ahmedabad to intensify further

Heatwave in Ahmedabad: temperature has been expected in different parts of the state from April 15 to 17.

Mercury Soars Beyond 41°C Across State, Temperatures Expected to Touch 45°C

The summer heat in Gujarat has turned relentless as April progresses, with residents grappling with extreme temperatures. For the past five to seven days, many regions have consistently recorded temperatures above 41°C, and the situation is expected to worsen in the coming days.

Heatwave Continues: Yellow Alert Issued

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a heatwave in Ahmedabad is forecasted to persist from April 15 to 17, particularly affecting Saurashtra, Kutch, and North Gujarat. A yellow heat alert has been issued for Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, and parts of Saurashtra-Kutch, warning residents to take necessary precautions.

On Tuesday, seven cities recorded temperatures above 41°C, with Kandla Airport topping the chart at 44.6°C, making it the hottest location in the state. Ahmedabad followed closely, recording 42.3°C.

The IMD also noted changes in wind direction in regions like Kutch, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, and Rajkot, which may influence the weather dynamics further. With temperatures climbing steadily, a further 2–3°C rise is expected over the next five days, which could push the mercury beyond 45°C in some areas.
