India reported 29,163 new cases of coronavirus disease on Tuesday (Covid-19). According to an update from the Union Health Ministry at 8 am, the countrywide tally now stands at 88,74,290.

According to the health ministry, the country reported 449 new fatalities due to Covid-19, which raised the death toll to 1,30,519.

Tweet by official Health Ministery: 

For six consecutive weeks, the number of daily cases has been decreasing, and Monday’s figure of 30,548 had been a “historic low,” said the health ministry.

From August to November 16, a tweet from the official handle of the ministry provided a graph of the number of daily cases showing cases increasing until mid-September and then dropping.

The Single day spike: 

On September 17, with 97,984 new cases of Covid-19, the single-day peak in coronavirus cases was registered, and India has witnessed a decline in the caseload since then.

The pattern of daily Covid-19 recovery rates outpacing daily infections also continued on Monday for the 44th day when the nation reported 30,548 cases of the infection. The number of patients who recovered stood at 43,851.

The Multi-disciplinary team:

In the meantime, the Centre has set up multi-disciplinary teams to visit all private hospitals in Delhi to verify the enforcement status of the different directions given for testing and treating Covid-19 patients by the Union Health Ministry.

According to the Union Home Ministry, the teams were asked to begin their visit immediately and send reports within two days along with detailed information. To monitor the spread of the disease in the national capital, the Centre has developed a strategy that has seen an unprecedented increase in the number of daily cases of Covid-19.

Good news on vaccine:

As a US-based biotechnology company, Moderna Inc on Monday stated its vaccine candidate was found to have been 94.5 per cent successful in preventing Covid-19, there is more good news mostly on the vaccine front. The announcement was based on trials for phase 3. This comes barely a week after Pfizer Inc and BioNTech SE announced that their candidate vaccine was much more than 90% helpful in preventing coronavirus disease.
