Police stated on Sunday that a terror associate was detained, and many improvised explosive devices (IED) were found in Pulwama, avoiding a big catastrophe in Jammu and Kashmir.

Police seized approximately 5-6 kg of IED following the disclosure by the terror associate known as Ishfaq Ahmed Wani, an Arigam resident in the Pulwama area.

A case has been filed, and an investigation is currently proceeding.

“Pulwama Police averted a major tragedy by apprehending a #terror associate Ishfaq Ahmed Wani R/O Arigam #Pulwama and recovering a #IED (approx 5-6Kgs) on his disclosure,” the Kashmir Zone Police tweeted. “A case has been filed, and an investigation has begun.”

Five soldiers were slain in a terror ambush in Rajouri’s Kandi woodland area two days before.

Security personnel contacted the holed-up militants on Saturday morning, and one ultra was killed in the subsequent gun battle. According to the Army, another terrorist will likely be hurt.

According to officials, no further communication has been found with the remaining terrorists in the forested Kandi area, as a huge search operation reached its third day on Sunday.

“After Saturday’s encounter, there was no further contact with the terrorists.” Heavy rains fell in the area Saturday evening.

Still, the operation continues, and the area remains under a tight police perimeter, with all escape routes sealed, according to a senior security officer.

During the headquarters visit of the 25 Infantry Division in Rajouri on Saturday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh assessed the Indian Army’s operational readiness and the security situation along the Line of Control.

Singh was escorted by Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande and L-G Manoj Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir.

The minister expressed condolences to the dead soldiers and praised the troops for their bravery and dedication in adversity.

Singh stated that the “nation feels secure due to the Army’s eternal vigil and sacrifices in difficult and difficult areas.”
