FWICE urges stronger security on Film Sets.

Advisory issued after Tiger Shroff firing incident.

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has urged producers and production houses to adopt stricter safety measures on film sets following the recent shooting incident involving actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai. The federation’s advisory emphasises verified hiring, tighter access control, and prompt reporting of suspicious activity to law enforcement.

Rising Concerns Over Safety

On October 18, Tiger Shroff was targeted outside a football ground in Juhu, Mumbai, during his practice session when gunshots were fired. The incident prompted a police investigation, with authorities probing possible links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. This episode follows a series of threats and attacks against film personalities, including gunfire outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence earlier this year and repeated threats to actor Salman Khan, highlighting growing concerns about the safety of the entertainment industry.

FWICE’s Recommendations

The federation has urged producers to avoid hiring unverified individuals and to conduct thorough background checks on all crew members. It emphasised the need to maintain accurate personnel records and to engage only skilled, experienced professionals affiliated with recognised associations. While FWICE’s membership verification provides accountability, it clarified that this should not replace independent security checks.

Collective Responsibility

FWICE emphasised that security measures must extend beyond protecting actors and high-profile figures. Technicians, directors, producers, and all workers on set should be safeguarded. The federation urged industry stakeholders to treat safety as a shared responsibility and called for cooperation among producers, filmmakers, and associations to implement precautionary measures effectively.

A Call for Vigilance

The advisory concludes with a strong reminder that no compromise should be made regarding human life. FWICE has asked the industry to prioritise vigilance, responsible hiring, and comprehensive security measures to ensure safer working conditions across studios and shooting locations.
