The Rajinikanth starrer Jailer is doing great at the box office, as the move has crossed the 600cr mark. Lately the movie Jailer has been the part of a controversy.
Sun Pictures, the movie production company of Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Jailer, and Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Indian Premier League team, have settled their legal battle.
According to a Bar & Bench story, the Jailer producers have agreed to change the scene where a contract killer is depicted wearing an RCB jersey.
The RCB Jailer Controversy:
A contract killer is shown wearing an RCB jersey in a scene from Jailer. He also makes rude and sexist comments about a female character.
The counsel for RCB argued in the Delhi High Court that using its jersey is without consent and may harm the brand’s equity and the rights of its sponsors.
The solution on the matter:
Counsel for both parties advised the Court that they had agreed to settle the dispute outside of Court and digitally change the mentioned scene.
Sun Pictures told the Court that the stated changes will be made in the theatrical version by September 1. It will also ensure that the versions on television and OTT platforms reflect the update.
“The Defendants, as well as all parties acting for or on their behalf, including their distribution network, shall be bound by the above terms and conditions,” the Court ruled.
The RCB team jersey will be edited/altered in the theatrical depiction of the film Jailer beginning September 1, 2023.
The defendants must ensure that, after September 1, 2023, none of the theatres display the RCB jersey in any way. Before its distribution, the edited film version must be broadcasted/telecasted on television, satellite, or any OTT platform.”
The Movie domination at the box office:
Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer is a Tamil action comedy. It also stars Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, and Tamannaah Bhatia. Anirudh Ravichander wrote the music for the movie.
The film was released on August 10 and has grossed 607.29 crore worldwide since then. It has become the second highest-grossing Indian film of the year.
