The film industry, which was caught up in controversy after the Narcotics Control Bureau launched an investigation into its suspected ties to the drug trade and consumption, was defended by writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar.
Javed also spoke about his latest tweet about the parties of Karan Johar and said he wanted the media’s focus to be redirected to issues of interest.
Javed Akhtar in an Interview:
He said in an interview that he is not an expert on agriculture and economics, and that, instead of concentrating on Bollywood, some news channels should provide people like him with information.
I am not an expert in farming or economics. Some channels can educate people like me who do not understand these things, but do not keep up their duty,’ said Barkha Dutt, a journalist.
Javed Akhtar In his tweet:
“On September 25, Javed tweeted,” If Karan johar had also invited some farmers for his party life, our TV channels would have been simpler.
They would not have had to choose between the protest of farmers and the party of Karan!. “Karan’s do seem to be the second most favoured action on our platforms.”
Last week, in the monsoon session of Parliament, more than 200 farmers’ groups across the country barred roads and arranged rallies in protest against three contentious farm bills.
Javed Akhtar on Bollywood and Drugs Situation:
Asked about NCB’s ongoing investigation into the suspected Bollywood-drug connexion, he said, “In my life, I have never used any drugs.” I wasn’t a very disciplined young person, although, and I used to drink a lot.
I don’t trust these findings, but I’m looking at their health, their physique, their fitness.
Unlike the stars of yesteryear who were not fascinated about their physical health, which this generation is, these boys and girls are.
They spend two or three hours in the gym, actually. Should they look like addicted to drugs? They are highly skilled and responsible persons. The film industry is much more structured and transparent today than it has ever been.
Actors Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Shraddha Kapoor have been questioned by the NCB so far after their names popped up during the interrogation of actor Rhea Chakraborty by the agency.
