Key Points:
- Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari’s program on the Government of India’s Scrap Vehicle Policy has been organized in Gujarat on August 13 at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.
- In this program, a plan will be announced regarding the technology of disposing and disposing of more than one and a half crore old vehicles of Gujarat.
Under the central government’s scrap policy, vehicles that will be scrapped are required to have a lifespan of 15 years or more.
The policy of 15years: Those whose vehicles are 15 years old must be prepared to let their vehicles go to waste in these circumstances.
Scrap vehicle yards: The Rupani government will set up scrap vehicle yards in automobile SEZs like Sanand, Viramgam, Mandal, Becharaji and Savli and an array of vehicles in these scrap yards.
The policy of Central Government: The central government announced a scrap vehicle policy in March. Pollution is on the rise in the state due to old vehicles.
The National Green Tribunal has formulated a scrapping policy for India and the State Governments to control this pollution.
Three R’s: The central government announced the policy during the last budget session. First, 15-year-old vehicles have to be scrapped. This policy is based on three ‘R’s’ namely Reuse, Reduce and Recycle.
At the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will announce a road map to take more than one and a half crore vehicles to scrap yard in Gujarat based on this policy. The policy emphasizes the use of technology to dismantle vehicles as well as reuse vehicle parts.
All new Disposal system: India currently has no system for the disposal of old vehicles. However, the Central Government and the State Government are making efforts to arrange this.
The government claims that announcing a new policy for a scrap of 15-year-old vehicles in the country will also create new employment opportunities.
