Raksha Bandhan Trailer Release: Akshay Kumar Discusses

We knew there would be a clash when Aamir Khan announced that Laal Singh Chaddha would be released on August 11 and Akshay Kumar revealed that Raksha Bandhan would be released on the day the festival is celebrated. After getting a glimpse of Laal Singh Chaddha, we got a sneak peek into the Akshay starrer today, as the trailer was released with much fanfare in the presence of the entire cast.

Akshay Kumar was asked about his upcoming clash with Aamir Khan in theatres on August 11. “It’s not a clash,” the actor explained, “but two films coming together.” Today is a big day. Rakshabandhan ka waqt hai, Chuttiyan hai. Covid’s film has yet to be released. Wait kar rahein ki kab theatre pe lagegi, saari filmein abhi bhi padi hui hai. Toh yeh natural thing hai ki hafte ke andhar do filmein aana. (Translation: It’s the holiday season, Rakshabandhan.) Many films were not released as a result of Covid. Many movies are still sitting in theatres, awaiting release. So the release of two films simultaneously is entirely natural.)

Akshay Kumar also wished the films luck, saying, “I wouldn’t say we’re competing!” We’re working hard to get our films in front of people, and I’m hoping both films do well.”

While Bhumi Pednekar plays the leading lady in Akshay Kumar’s film, Kareena Kapoor Khan will co-star with Aamir Khan in Laal Singh Chaddha. Aanand L. Rai directed Raksha Bandhan, a family film. Advait Chandan directed the Aamir-Kareena film, which is a remake of the Tom Hanks film Forrest Gump.
