Heatwave grips Gujarat, thunderstorm alert issued

Maximum temperatures in at least six states surpassed 40°C on Thursday, while in Gujarat, five communities reported temperatures beyond 41°C.

The scorching heatwave continues to engulf Gujarat, with Rajkot emerging as the hottest place, recording a maximum temperature of 41.7°C. Ahmedabad and Surendranagar closely follow suit, with temperatures reaching 41.5°C, while Bhuj and Gandhinagar report 41.1°C and 41°C, respectively.

Despite the onset of summer, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an unusual weather warning, predicting thunderstorms in certain areas of South Gujarat, including Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, and Valsad, from Sunday to Tuesday.

Light rain and thundershowers are expected in these regions, offering some respite from the relentless heat.

Campaign Trail Heats Up in Rajkot

Amidst the blistering heat, political fervor intensifies in Rajkot as BJP candidate Parshottam Rupala launches his campaign for the Rajkot Lok Sabha seat.

Despite facing opposition from the Kshatriya community, Rupala embarks on his campaign with zeal, traversing various areas of Rajkot under police protection. Encountering resistance yet warm receptions, Rupala finds support in unexpected quarters, particularly in the Patidar stronghold along Kuvadva Road.

Warm Reception Amidst Political Maneuvering

Accompanied by a convoy of BJP supporters and prominent leaders, Rupala receives a jubilant welcome from the people of Rajkot. Traditional garlands, showers of rose petals, and enthusiastic drumming set the tone for Rupala’s door-to-door canvassing.

Notable figures like Rajya Sabha MP Ram Mokariya and former Lok Sabha MP Mohan Kundaria add to the campaign’s momentum. Despite some notable absences, Rupala’s walkathon and interactions with voters signify his determination to secure their support in the upcoming elections.

Conclusion

As the mercury soars and political temperatures rise in Gujarat, the contrasting dynamics of weather patterns and election campaigns underscore the resilience and fervor of the state’s populace.

Amidst the sweltering heat and political maneuvering, the people of Gujarat brace themselves for both the challenges of summer and the democratic exercise of voting.
