Ex-President Pranab Mukherjee has responded to the
treatment but remains on ventilator support; India’s Coronavirus tally over
2.58 million.
India on the day ending Sunday
9 am, reported 63,489 fresh COVID-19 infections, which has taken its tally to over
2.58 million. In the last eight days, cases in India have been over the
60,000-mark, barring one day. The country’s Coronavirus tally now stands at 25,89,682 cases. A fresh
spike of 944 deaths in the last 24 hours took the country’s death toll to
49,980.
India tops the daily
coronavirus case-count for a twelfth consecutive day:
Since August 5, India has been reporting the highest number of daily coronavirus cases in the world. For 12 consecutive days, India’s daily caseload was higher than the US and Brazil, who are 1st and 2nd in the list of the worst-affected Coronavirus nations, Indian remains third. However, the recovery rate of India improved to 71.91 percent. As per the latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, about 18.62 lakh people have recovered from the fatal virus. Lakshadweep remains the only Indian region which is Coronavirus free, currently, and Mizoram is the only state which has reported less than 1000 COVID-19 infections in the country.
Pranab Mukherjee on the road to
his recovery, says, son:
Former
President Pranab Mukherjee’s
son Abhijit Mukherjee on Sunday revealed that his father’s health condition is
better and he is responding to treatment. He took to his Twitter and informed
Pranab’s well-wishers that he visited his father in the hospital and that he
was on his road to recovery. The Army’s Research and Referral (R&R)
Hospital later in a statement asserted Abhijit’s tweet and stated that even
though the ex-president continued to be on ventilator support, his vital and
clinical parameters were stable. The 84-year-old has been detected with the Coronavirus.
