Due to the pandemic, the two top leagues of Europe
will be provided crowd noise which EA sports has gathered over the years for
its football game FIFA.
In yet another twist due to the Coronavirus
pandemic, upon the
return of Europe’s top two football leagues, EA sports-the video game company will play a key role and
provide crowd noise to both, The Premier League in England and Spain’s La Liga. The company’s longtime slogan “It’s in
the game”, resonant with the game players, stand true and it will actually
apply to what is literally happening on the field.
EA Sports… It’s in the game:
Electronic Arts, for its FIFA football (soccer) franchise, had gathered crowd noise over the years and will now provide it to the two giant leagues in the world. EA audio artist Paul Boechler said, “This is definitely not a situation anyone thought of to show off our library. The important thing is hopefully it enhances the experience for someone watching a game.”
On Thursday, in Sevilla v
Real Betis match,
upon La Liga’s resumption, this EA-supplied audio was tested.
The Premier League is all set to be back on Wednesday, 17th June.
The coordinating producer for NBC’s Premier League coverage, Pierre Moossa, had last month said that the best way to cover games was to remain authentic, to not add artificial crowd noises. But after watching Bundesliga’s first game post the suspension, Moossa said, “The game with just the ambiance noise from the coaches and players was tough to watch. It felt flat. Our belief is the crowd supporters are very much the soundtrack to the match. It is so ingrained.”
800 sound clips will be
provided to the broadcasters ranging from crowd chants of a particular stadium
to the sound of dissent by the crowd on a yellow card or their team player
being called offside; the sound operator will be like a DJ.
