Rahul Gandhi interacts with Indian nurses from
around the world and lauds them of fighting the Coronavirus one-on-one.
On Wednesday, Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi commemorated National
Doctor’s Day, by
interacting with Indian nurses working across the globe, against the Covid-19 pandemic. Nurses from the United
Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, and India talked with Gandhi, who lauded
the front line workers during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Indians have a reputation for
being hard-working:
The nurses shared their experiences, how they have been relentlessly reminding other front line workers to wash their hands, sanitize them, cover the face with masks as more and more doctors & nurses are testing Covid-19 positive. The nurses also highlighted the fact that testing the patients is extremely important and very challenging as well. Nurses from India have an image of being very compassionate and familial, which boosts their reliability across the globe. Indian nurses revealed that people have been very respectful to them during the pandemic because Indians have the reputation of being hard-working & dedicated to work, kind of people.
“Protect medical practitioners”
– Indian nurses:
Rahul
Gandhi listened to their experiences and concluded the interaction by asking
them what India can do to help them. To which nurses working outside India said
that in times such as these, where they have been working relentlessly in
bigger shifts, it is very important to talk to them. The nurses have treated
and seen many people passing away and the only thing they want is “staying in
touch with us” or “talking to us”. The Indian nurse pointed out that medical
practitioners must be protected at all costs, and better policies regarding
that should be implemented.
In the memory of Dr Bidhan
Chandra Roy, on 1st
July, India celebrates its National Doctors Day. Rahul Gandhi has interacted with financial &
healthcare experts in the last few weeks, during the nation-wide lockdown, to
discuss the prevailing virus’ effects on India, both economically &
medically.
