Ahmedabad Youth Protests CJP Committee Picks

A young activist from Ahmedabad has launched an indefinite hunger strike in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, accusing the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) of favouritism in forming its first National Working Committee.

Volunteer Alleges Sidelining of Grassroots Workers

Manish Brahmbhatt, who says he was part of the Jantar Mantar student movement, claims that several volunteers and coordinators who contributed to CJP’s campaign work were left out of the newly announced leadership. According to him, only individuals close to party founder Abhijit Dipke were rewarded with positions, while ground-level workers who helped build the movement were overlooked.

Brahmbhatt said he and fellow volunteers travelled to attend CJP’s core committee meeting but were denied entry despite waiting through the day. He alleged that communication about the meeting was mishandled, with initial messages claiming they hadn’t reached the venue, followed by silence from party contacts. He further claimed that phones were collected from attendees inside the meeting, which he believes explains why no one was aware the group was waiting outside.

Party Yet to Respond Publicly

As of now, CJP and its leadership have not issued an official response to Brahmbhatt’s allegations or his ongoing protest. The hunger strike comes days after CJP publicly unveiled its national team, with Abhijit Dipke named as convener, drawing attention across social media given the party’s unconventional name and growing youth base.

The episode highlights early friction within CJP as it transitions from an online-driven protest movement into a structured political organisation, raising questions about internal transparency as it scales up its leadership structure ahead of future political plans.
