Ashneer Grover, co-founder of BharatPe and one of the ‘sharks’ on the 1st season of Shark Tank India, has contested a survey that ranked him as one of the ‘least active’ investors on the first season of the business reality show.

Grover, who did not appear in the second season, did concur that fellow judge Namita Thapar was the most active’ shark.

As Ashneer Grover states in his Tweets:

“I, Ashneer Grover, invested 2.95 crores | 11 deals in Shark Tank Season 1,” he wrote in a tweet on Wednesday.

Grover pointed out this meant that he was the ‘second-highest deployer,’ behind only Thapar.

“No surprises – Namita is a fantastic paymaster!” “We are the top two in terms of absolute, per cent of deals completed, and per cent of commitment invested,” he noted.

He tweeted a list of deals he closed throughout the show to support his claim. According to the list, he made investments totalling ₹2,94,84, 673 across 11 deals.

The study by Privatecircle:

According to the PrivateCircle study, as many as 27 of the total 65 transactions (commitments to invest) made on the first season of Shark Tank India were successful. According to the report, the seven judges invested 40 crore in these 65 enterprises.

For her part, Emcure Pharmaceuticals’ executive director Namita was first with over 60% commitment fulfilment (13 out of 22), while Mamaearth’s Ghazal Alagh was second with 57% (4 out of 7). Aman Gupta, co-founder of BoaT, finished third with 43% commitments (12 out of 28).
