The appearance of a rare Blue supermoon is causing a unique and magnificent occurrence in the sky. While the supermoon was best seen just after sunrise, it is still visible at its peak at 9:30 p.m. This is the closest we’ll get to a full moon this year, far closer than the one on August 1.

What’s more to see?

There’s much more to see: as the sun sets, the bright planet Saturn will be visible, gleaming around 5 degrees above and to the moon’s right.

As per the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Saturn will appear to move in a circle around the moon as the night progresses.

If you missed the first supermoon of the month, don’t miss this one. According to Italian astronomer Gianluca Masi, head of the Virtual Telescope Project, we will not see another blue supermoon until 2037.

Best time to see the Blue supermoon:

On August 30, the Blue Moon will be exceptionally brilliant at 9:30 p.m. IST.

The Blue Super Moon will be at its brightest around 7:30 a.m. on August 31.

The Super Blue Moon will be visible in the Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) zone on August 30 at around 8:37 p.m.
