During the meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the chief ministers of all states to evaluate the situation of coronavirus disease nationally on Tuesday, Delhi’s Arvind Kejriwal told him that since November 10, Covid-19 cases, as well as positivity levels, have been steadily declining in the national capital.

CM Arvind Kejriwal to PM Modi:

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal told PM Modi that Delhi had seen a high of 8,600 Covid-19 cases at its third peak on 10 November. The cases and the rate of positivity have been gradually declining since then.

And according to news agency ANI, the high intensity of the third wave is due to several factors, including pollution, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said.

The official CMO also stated: 

Senior CMO officials even said that Kejriwal sought the intervention of PM Modi to get rid of pollution by adjoining states due to stubble burning, especially in view of the recent bio decomposer.

 Kejriwal also tried to reserve an additional 1,000 beds in hospitals operated by the central government in intensive care units (ICUs) before the third wave lasts in the capital.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain stated: 

On Monday, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said the pollution caused by stubble burning had contributed to a higher number of fatalities in the state of Covid-19.

Over the past few days, the national capital has contributed the largest number of cases to a country’s daily Covid-19 tally. 

On Monday, as many as 4,454 cases and 121 more deaths were reported. This was the sixth time that the daily toll has exceeded the 100 mark in the last 12 days.

The other states which are also part of interaction: 

In a meeting with heads of state, Prime Minister Modi will review the steps taken to monitor the spread of the disease.

 The first few hours were devoted to communicating with state chief ministers who saw a sharp increase in their caseload as well as deaths from Covid-19.

Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, and Chandigarh are also the states that are a part of this interaction.

Discussion held in the second half of the meeting:

Modi will discuss the vaccine delivery plan with the Chief Ministers in the second half of the meeting scheduled. 

This comes after he conducted a review session on Friday on progress in a vaccine study, procurement, and distribution.
